A callable bond gives issuer the right to redeem the bond before the specified maturity rate, where it helps the issuer protect themselves against declines in interest rates. Effectively for the bondholders, due to the higher reinvestment risk, they require a higher yielding coupon bond to compensate for the risk. This bond will have contingency provisions.
