We have heard from some folks that "alcohol only makes you fat because you eat more as a result". Well, there is some truth to that, because alcohol does increase the likelihood to over consume calories. But alcohol can make you fat in other ways as well.
Alcohol inhibits lipid oxidation, and the work required to break down or metabolize the alcohol, takes away from the other work your body is required to perform. But again, there are some studies that talk about the health benefits of drinking ONLY one glass of red wine. So, just food for thought.
