Assuming goods/services are comparable, when prices of a good/service decreases, the substitution effect leads consumers to purchase more of the lower priced good, versus the one in which price remained the same. The income effect results from the substitution effect. The unspent income from the cheaper product allows the consumer to use additional income in other forms of consumption.
