Happiness.
That is our focus for this year. Happiness to know that you can obtain it instantaneously. For it is on us to be able to handle our emotions. Control our attitudes. And embrace the love we have for ourselves and others. Because at the minimum, love for yourself, is the ultimate prerequisite for a happy life. During our travels, there was a wise lady who told us about the story of the Puppy and The Old Dog. In its essence, the story describes how the Old Dog told the Puppy that happiness lies within their tails. Consequently, the Puppy goes and chases the tail, circles over and over, without never being able to catch it. It is then, when the Old Dog told the Puppy (as he laughed), that you won't get your happiness that way pup. That happiness is only obtainable if you walk forward, without regrets or fear. That you embrace the present, you learn from your past, and you maintain hope (without being to overzealous) about the future. The Puppy looks at the Old Dog and asks, so where is it? Then the Old Dog responds by saying where it is not. It is not in suspicion or doubt. It is not in jealousy or delusion. As long as you move forward, naturally, happiness will flow as so does your tail flows with every step you take. ... My fellow lectors, as a quick side note, writing this while we are now looking at our puppies just warms our hearts. ... So what is our final message for 2019. Have the courage to love yourself. Have the courage to not doubt yourself, to lead your trail, blaze it with your secret sauce, and know that your positive attitude can help truly broaden your happiness. That if you continue to live your life through your purpose and ambitions, that happiness will follow. For which happiness, is a derivative of love. And love, as we always contend is the most important feeling in our worlds. So let us cheers. Cheers to not chasing our tails and a Very Happy 2019!
