I was completely clueless to the new responsibilities and freedoms that were given to me, after remission. But what I did possess was a positive outlook of life, the same outlook that helped me defeat this disease. I had no thought or idea of how I was going to successfully shift from one stage of my life to another. But I knew that I had a strong foundation of commitment, love, and enthusiasm. Paradigm shifts, or moving from one system to another, are shocking. Nevertheless, I can successfully say I have transcended from a Novice to a Grandmaster.
I did not have to change anything about myself, and all I had to do was to cohesively honor the principles I was raised with, and continue my hunger for wanting to be the best person that I could be. My first session of chemo was not a natural shift for me, however, I decided that I can control and choose my destiny. I chose to make this fight with Cancer a challenge. I am happy to say that I am proud that I have fought, and now, I am starting to fulfill my potential. From session after session, I have met my goal, which is living life happy. The physical pain and nausea still permeate my body sometimes, but my emotional fortitude would stay intact. The simple bruising, the blood, or the bodily weakness will not get to me. Ultimately, my journey and conquest for success has begun. Essentially, the challenge of managing my “will” did not detract from my success, but it augmented my ability to balance different aspects of my life. Essentially, I have been able to manage and overcome all the obstacles that came my way. It made me wiser in my everyday activities and moreover, it gets me closer to achieving happiness. Going from Novice to Grandmaster is about understanding that success is incumbent on your perspective of life. Therefore, I will commit and dedicate myself for being the best I can be. And Cancer would not hinder any long-term sustainable success.
