Tis a new year.
If you pay close attention, you would observe resolutions are being made. And as newborns to the world, these resolutions are filled with life, potential, and innocence. Life, because of the nurture people have given to its birth. Potential, as it is planted and created from the hope to succeed. Innocence, as resolutions are both simple and good in nature. We all hear, year after year, “It’s a new slate” and “It’s a time to start over”. But I will argue against that. For instance, resolutions are created by the desire to change, and ergo, a continuation of one's life. That is why we find a New Year so beautiful. It truly, for us, epitomizes the bitter-sweet phenomena. Bitter, because another year has passed; another year filled with love, passion, and milestones. But sweet, because people are able to create new milestones and mature what has already made them great. We have had many discussions with many individuals on whether resolutions were met or not. And trust us, we have heard the complete paradigm. And with that, we have been able to truly think about the dynamics of this paradigm. We have heard things that range from “people achieving resolutions”, to “people starting resolutions”, and to “I didn't even get to it”. But the most insightful conversations had one central theme. And that one central theme: Aspiring to be great by moving forward, while using the past as lessons for success. It is ensuring that every year people are growing, sticking true to their resolution, and ultimately leading a life of true happiness (without regret). Simply put, having the dedication to making their dreams come to fruition. We believe everyone can exceed their own goals, viewing experiences as pre-requisites to ongoing success, and re-investing those accomplishments into new aspirations. We can all do it and it comes in many forms. People can continue to raise their education and become doctors, the military folk can climb up the ranks and become a general, an athlete can work to become a professional, an immigrant can come to a new country and begin a new generation, or men and women in love becoming a family. Greatness is not only possible, but in reach for everyone. Resolutions are attainable with the right concoction of love, work, sweat, determination, and organization. If you find yourself stuck, imagine you have to create a top 10 list at the end of this year. Do things that would make you proud of that list. Travelling the world, creating a family, getting married, graduating college, becoming a professional, buying a new home, buying a new car, retiring, or becoming a new member in the workforce, and much more. To all we say use your past to make a better future. To all we say you are the best you. To all we say happy New Year and may it be fantastic.
