Someone’s attitude in life can make the difference between happiness and sadness. Life is beautiful, but not always easy. The following is a snippet of accepting the reality of life, and being able to enjoy its essence. Life is too short to fill it with despair. We must accept life for the beauty it is.
Story: Grandma: “You must be the loveliest gift I have ever seen”. The recently born girl continued to stay tucked in her bed, sleeping, unaware of what she did. Grandpa: “You must be the most special baby I have ever seen”. The six month old baby took her first steps. Father: “You must be the toughest person I have ever seen”. The five year old girl went through her first session of chemo. Mother: “You must be the most precious person I have ever seen”. The 12 year old teenage girl hands her mother a note saying, “I defeated cancer”. Grandpa: “She thought you were the loveliest newborn she has ever met. And she loved you dearly”. The recently high school graduate kissed the picture of her grandma, as tears began to fall, knowing that her grandmother fought to see her granddaughter graduate high school, to have later left this world smiling peacefully, a few moments later. Father: “He thought you were the most special baby he has ever met. And he loved you dearly”. The recently married woman upon saying “I do”, left the ceremony to tell her Grandpa one last time that she loved him, holding his hand in his hospital bed. Mother: “He thought you were the toughest kid he has ever seen. And Daddy loved his little girl dearly”. A recent mother, a little after labor, shows her father his new grandson. The father tells her little girl that his new grandson is the most special baby he has ever seen, kissing his daughter for the last time and his grandson for his first and only time. Son: “Mommy, Grandma is asleep. Grandma is asleep. She told me to tell you that she thought I was her lovely gift, and you were the most precious person she has ever seen”. The mother fell into her son’s arms, not able to hold back the tears, telling her son that Grandma loved us all. Later that night the woman looked out the window and said, “Grandma, Grandpa, Dad, and Mom thank you for your love. I was able to survive a premature birth. I was able to walk when the doctors thought I will never be able too. I had cancer and I defeated it. I graduated high school, college, and graduate school. I was able to get married and have children. You thought that I was special, but I was just a byproduct of your love. You were the reason why I was able to muster up the strength to triumph”. Husband: “You are the love of my life. You are the most special woman in this world. And my dream come true”. The wife turns around, kisses her husband and then hugs him. She begins to cry and says, “I think, wait I know, I am the luckiest woman in the world”.
