Introduction:
Every time we go to the supermarket, we are bombarded with diet drinks or foods. Of course, these little items have lower calories and carbohydrates than their counterparts. Assuming all of this, we can deduct that these items are “good” for you; they might help you lose weight. Unfortunately, we have been trained incorrectly. Sweeteners such as those found in diet drinks or sugar-free items are just simply sabotaging your weight loss and muscle growth! Example: Let us think about a can of soda: there are 140 calories per can, and 39 grams of carbohydrates. These carbohydrates found in soda come from a liquid sweetener called high fructose corn syrup or corn syrup. The sweeteners found on sodas are extremely harmful, these are not NATURAL! Now, let us think of the perceived “healthy” version; a diet can of soda. There are 0 calories in a diet soda and no carbohydrates. By the way, it is not really 0 calories. At first glance, this looks like the best option, right? Even though there are no calories in diet sodas, think of the ingredients. Diet sodas usually have aspartame, which is a chemically produced and cheap sweetener that has been shown to increase the risk of cancer. Chemically made sweeteners such as aspartame or sucralose are not natural, but they have been made to make us believe that if we choose these ingredients, we will lose weight. Unfortunately, this is not true; we can relate to it from our own experience. Personal Experience: We used to drink diet sodas and eat sugar-free items in order to lose weight, since these foods do not have nearly the same amount of calories as the real stuff. After trying so much, we realized that rather than losing weight, we gained more body fat, had several migraine headaches, and had stomach issues. The Science: The types of ingredients that are in these sorts of products have been proven to create all of these symptoms. Our body is used to only processing all natural foods such as vegetables, legumes, healthy fats, proteins, and dairies. However, when we put chemicals in our bodies, our body will be in a state of shock and does not know how to handle these ingredients. Therefore, our body decides to let it sit in the liver for up to three months! Think of it rationally, our bodies are only used to foods that have components that are easily digestible, but once it finds chemicals, it does not know what to do with them! Once it is in our systems, it prevents other organs from working properly; therefore, migraines, weight gain, and stomach complications take place. Some of the Side Effects: · Headaches and Depression · Change in vision and mood · Convulsions · Sleeping problems and memory loss · Metabolic disturbances · Changes in heart rate and abdominal cramps · Weight Gain Simple Alternatives: However, if you are craving that sweet soda, aim for drinks that are sweetened with ALL NATURAL Stevia. Stevia is a plant that is grown globally, and for many years, it has been used as a sweetener. Believe me, the sweetener is all natural and is not created in a lab. There are sodas that are sweetened with stevia. If you are aiming for a delicious treat and if you want a luscious cake or brownie, make it yourself! Many places sell Stevia drops or packets that can be added to your recipes. You can find these at any natural food stores or retailers such as Whole Foods or The Vitamin Shoppe. To quench your thirst, you can freeze strawberries and add them to your water or seltzer. Takeaway: Remember that in order to be the best healthy version of ourselves, we should consider consuming an all-natural diet with no sweeteners.
