Timing when you eat and how you eat can either "make" your lifestyle diet choice, or "break" it.
We say it is "easy" because it is a choice you can make, that doesn't even require going to the gym. Insulin spikes when we consume calories, and more so, carbs. The higher the GI, which is glycemic index, the higher the spike. Simply put, these spikes are meant to provide an energy source, but if you are sitting around and not using these spikes, then they can be stored as fat. Do not ever stop eating CARBS. You NEED them. That is a given. But time your carbs around your workout, and really aim for having low GI foods throughout the day.
