Phytonutrients are organic components of plants. They help facilitate a myriad of health benefits. But it is very important to note that they are not essential. “Not essential” just means that if you do not take them, you won’t find nutritional deficiencies, as the opportunity cost. Most common phytonutrients include carotenoids and polyphenols. Carotenoids are found in ROY pigmented fruits and vegetables (Red, Orange, and Yellow), while polyphenols are found in berries (and even tea and wine).
