AMPK conversations, which is the enzyme in our body that has been studied and said it can reduce abdominal fat and make us live longer, has become more ubiquitous in the fitness community. Although, studies have shown increasing AMPK activity does help lower abdominal fat, reduce bad cholesterol, lower insulin levels, and “live longer”, these are mostly derivatives of the truth being, higher AMPK activity means higher metabolic activity. Whenever you increase metabolic activity, you will have higher energy, have higher workout (output) performance, and lower stress levels. Increasing AMPK activity is an enabler to help perform better work, then everything from there shall trickle down.
