ATP does deplete quickly, therefore our muscles are created to maintain reserves of additional energy through Creatine (Creatine Phosphate). Creatine Kinase (the enzyme that breaks down the Creatine phosphate bond) binds with other compounds that make new ATP molecules; during exercise, we then release the ATP for energy. Note that the body does not maintain high reserves because it would weigh down our tissues.
