All calories are not created equal. Trust us, although it is sometimes easier to say, “a calorie is a calorie by any other name”, the consumption of said calorie can make a difference. Consumption here is the key. If you have those night time munchies, the potential of your expenditure for those calories will not be the same, vs if you were to eat three hours earlier. The more you have in you stomach, calorically speaking, when you sleep, the more prone you will have it be processed and then stored into fat. Again we are not saying this is the end of the world, but many studies have shown higher tendency of weight gain for late night snacking. Again, that is not attributed to the actual calorie, but the consumption and potential expenditure of it.
